Why a Fundraising Gala?
The ENAR Foundation has to rely on different channels to promptly develop the endowment necessary to support the ambitions of ENAR, its member organisations and the broader equality, anti-discrimination and ethnic minority community. Many donation schemes and other self-income generating projects are currently being developed and implemented by the ENAR Foundation. But there is still a long way to go to reach a “critical mass”.
Corporate sponsors and donors make the biggest difference when they mobilise for a good cause. A fundraising gala is therefore a great moment to build the momentum and give visibility to the Cause and its corporate supporters. It is also a unique opportunity for our sponsors and donors to network with like-minded people from all sides of society: businesspeople and entrepreneurs, civil servants, social partners and civil society activists, all united by a common desire to ban discrimination in Europe and move towards a more inclusive and diversity-friendly society.
Our Fundraising Gala is the “place to be” if you want to share your commitment to diversity and equality in Europe and concretely support the work of the ENAR Foundation. It is also an opportunity to meet with experts in the field from all over Europe and exchange with peers from other world companies. Finally, it is the place to be if you simply want to have a good time while making a difference with your financial support.
Why awards celebrating a racism-free Europe?
Over the last decade, the political climate in Europe has considerably cooled down. Progress towards equality, diversity and a better life for all has almost come to a standstill. The current scapegoating of ethnic minorities and migrants for the mishaps of our societies, and the “normalised” discrimination many of them face in all walks of life has become increasingly worrying. The struggle for equality for all human beings is currently loosing ground and seems to become a gentle utopia of the past.
In that framework, the mission of the ENAR Foundation is also about giving visibility to issues and keeping the debate on equality for all alive.
Offering awards to individuals, NGOs, educational institutions and companies who, despite all odds, persevere in trying to make equality for all a concrete reality, is considered a good way to achieve this challenge. It gives visibility to the Cause and draws attention on the many actors – whatever their level of responsibility, their place in society and their field of action – who strive often anonymously to improve our collective daily life by pushing for inclusion, respect, diversity and equality at all levels of our society. Those people and institutions deserve to be congratulated for not choosing the easy option of following the mainstream, but of standing up and keeping the ideals enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights alive, fighting for equality of all people beyond their differences.
Three awards – Three champions!
Three multinational companies have committed to champion and join the ENAR Foundation in celebrating people who make a significant difference in fostering equality and addressing discrimination in our societies. Each company has agreed to endow an award in order to demonstrate its commitment to equality and diversity and to highlight the collective benefits of inclusive societies.
The first ENAR Foundation Award will celebrate an individual from Europe who has significantly contributed to a racism free Europe through his/her actions or his/her involvement in civil society. The award is supported by the Adecco Group which has endowed the award with a sum of 2 500€ to be offered to the winner.
The second ENAR Foundation Award will celebrate a Non-Governmental Organisation from Europe which has significantly contributed to a racism free Europe through specific actions, projects or programmes supporting victims of racism or racial discrimination or encouraging mutual understanding and raising awareness about the dangers of racism. The award is supported by L’Oréal, which has endowed the award with a sum of 2 500€ to be offered to the winning NGO.
The third ENAR Foundation Award will celebrate a company from Europe which has significantly contributed to a racism-free Europe, by implementing voluntarist and progressive ethnic diversity outreach for example, and inclusion programmes or projects to develop their work force in a diversity inclusive way. The award is supported by Sodexo, which has financially contributed to the organisation of the Gala itself.
