30. Hidden Talents

ENAR book on the hidden talents of Europe launched on April 9, 2013

What talents do ethnic and religious minorities and migrants bring to European society? What is the cost of neglecting their contribution? How many success stories would come to light if we ceased wasting talents because of discriminatory practices? These are some questions that are raised by Catherine Lynch and Shannon Pfohman, the authors of Hidden Talents, Wasted Talents? The real cost of neglecting the positive contribution of migrants and ethnic minorities. The book increases awareness of the often unrecognized talents of migrants and minorities, and sheds new light on how they play important roles in European society. In addition, the publication draws attention to the scarcity of information regarding migrants' and minorities' positive contributions, and encourages policy makers and academics to invest in further research.

Hidden Talents, Wasted Talents? is divided into 5 sections. The background and introduction in section 1 are followed by a section that shows evidence of how migrants and minorities contribute to European politics, economy, health, education, and culture. In the third part of the book, the authors address the possibility to change the negative discourse about migration. A conclusion is provided in part 4, while the last section contains references. The book is published by the European Network Against Racism, and will be launched on April 9, 2013.

How to raise money

Use our email template (will be provided later) and ask your contacts to support your run for a racism-free Europe. Send them this webpage for all information
Post the link of the ENAR Foundation's marathon webpage on your Facebook and/or Twitter status, asking people to support you
Ask friends to ‘donate' their status update to you. Via their statuses, you can reach people you might not know
Ask your followers to retweet your link, so it reaches their followers
Put a link to the ENAR Foundation's marathon webpage in your email signature with a short ‘sponsor me' message
Refer as much as possible to ENAR Foundation's marathon webpage

Find out more about the ENAR Holistic Diversity Management Certificate

The ENAR Foundation has published a leaflet presenting the Holistic Diverisity Management Certificate (currently only available in French)

Management of diversity in business has been the subject of special attention over the past few years. More recently, certifications have emerged, mainly based on technical approaches and processes focusing on recruitment and career management, without any real depth in terms of reflection on what changes are really needed for business to engage in a diverse and inclusive society.

That is why the ENAR Foundation and its partners, Strategest and the European Center for Leadership and Entrepreneurship Education, have developed a European certification in diversity management, which includes a holistic approach and a multi-integrated process that support a global strategic position of the company in its environment.

Beyond the certification itself, this approach offers companies the possibility to optimise their approach on the benefits of diversity policy, through thorough auditing and concrete training proposals for all hierarchical levels. The ENAR Foundation's approach is both qualitative and progressive. The approach sets impact and success indicators of the diversity policies, which will be regularly measured and adjusted to accompany the growth of the company.

Our approach is original in that it articulates a progressive evolution in the minds and hearts of the managers with the implementation of new diversity processes. The ENAR Foundation ambitions to assist businesses in managing a completely renewed approach to diversity.

The European Holistic Diversity Management Certificate© process is now finalised and ready to be implemented in companies wishing to improve their diversity management policies.
